MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related Field.

Fiber Optic Inspection/Installer/Designer Certificates.

5 years communication industry with outside plant, fiber optics, communication architecture, optical transport equipment and project management experience.

Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Assists in the planning and implementation of fiber connectivity solutions programs and projects that adhere to approved plans, budgets and schedules.

Provides detailed surveying and engineering of outside plant fiber design for the fiber network.

Designs and implements fiber network, infrastructure, backbone and lateral builds with planning analysis and recommendations of new construction of outside plant network structures and facilities.

Provides support for operations personnel during maintenance and emergency recovery activities.

Engineer's fiber cable routes to meet circuit diversity and redundancy requirements; produces and updates drawings and updates GIS. Includes ROW surveying as needed.

Performs field surveys to verify existing documentation and completed scope of work requirements for project completion.

Evaluates and coordinates customer requirements, project design and conducts site walks with customers.

Tracks and manages projects from initiation to completion, identifying and resolving project issues resulting in successful completed projects.

Participates in the scheduling of fiber optic implementation, upgrades and ensures monitoring of the fiber optic system.

Creates project documentation.

Performs final inspections of work and provides certification of work installed.

Prepares special reports in response to internal and external requests in order to provide accessible data for reliable analysis, management review, research purposes and/or reporting requirements.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by: conducting research; attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; and conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.

Performs other duties as assigned.
