MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

2 years automation engineering and process control programming or intelligent electronic/electric devices

Utility, programming with fiber and radio network experience preferred

Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review)

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Assists in designing, documenting, implementing and maintaining essential SCADA and control system components for electric power, water, wastewater and gas distribution systems and networks.

Prepares designs for control panels, layouts, with bills of materials and wiring schematics for review and approval.

Prepares, reads and red lines drawings as needed.

Implements new engineering standards.

Provides appropriate and timely technical advice on matters relating to SCADA and control systems.

Participates on project teams.

Provides detail documentation upon project completion.

Provides engineering as-built drawings upon completion of job.

Works with engineers and subcontractors to develop and executes test procedures and test plans.

Schedules and coordinates construction jobs on a weekly/monthly basis. Schedules work with SCADA Technicians, electric meter shop, system administrators and district personnel.

Programs process automation and control systems involving RTU, PLC, HMI and communication network equipment.

Assists with installs, programming and commissioning of control systems at electrical, water/wastewater and gas facilities that includes all communications, accessories, wires, conduits, supports, batteries, cabinets in addition to measuring, level and metering equipment.

Tests and troubleshoots control systems, communication networks and metering equipment. Includes input and output point to point checks for correctness.

Maintains files and records of materials installed, retired, and calibrated for SCADA and metering equipment.

Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical and narrative reports; performs information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.
