MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate

Associate of Science Degree in Land Surveying or related field.

Certificate or specialized training in surveying and CAD and GIS preferred.

5 years of experience in land surveying.

Experience with Trimble GPS RTK equipment and software.

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS preferred.

Requires a Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Performs land surveys using proven survey techniques under the direct supervision of the Registered Land Surveyor.

Conducts land surveys and makes determinations in order to establish legal boundaries for properties by establishing or re-establishing land and property boundaries, property surveys, topographic surveys, boundary disputes, and right-of-ways.

Obtains accurate horizontal and vertical land survey data such as grid and geodetic angles, elevation points, and contours using various surveying instruments and software and internet resources.

Re-establish and/or establish new control points and stakes destroyed reference points and corners during construction operations.

Performs all routine surveying duties as a rodman or instrument man or survey party chief; performs survey measurements with a Trimble GPS RTK system, optical total station, automatic level, stadia rod, range-pole, prism and other related precision survey equipment.

Makes final location determinations for construction surveys establishing precise lines, grades, cross-sections, and elevations for related projects, using plans and other data available.

Selects best locations in consideration of terrain and canopy necessary for control points and sets rebars, stakes and other survey points and corners.

Collects data in the field with an electronic and/or manual field book and enters collected data into a Computer Aided Drafting/Design System (Auto-CAD) and reduces field notes.

Draws preliminary plats from reduced field notes and /or from legal descriptions; may be required to make sketches with brief notes.

Computes bearings, distances and acreages of various units of measure of property, right-of-ways and related.

Drafts preliminary and final survey plats and legal descriptions using Auto-CAD software.

Maintains and organizes the drawing files, maps and information within our network.

Researches legal and historical records from local surveyors, city, county, state and Tribal/Federal agencies.

Maintains equipment and tools for surveying and drafting.

Prepares reports in response to internal and external requests in order to provide accessible data for reliable analysis, management review, research purposes and/or reporting requirements.

Imports and exports data between various platforms (i.e. Google Earth, GIS, AutoCAD, ArcMAP, Trimble Business software).

Create maps for planning or design purposes.

Ensures that all vehicles are maintained and operated in a safe operating condition.

Performs other duties as assigned.
