High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or a Related field.

3 years of Layer 1 (Fiber Optics, Microwave), Layer 2 (Ethernet) and Layer 3 (Internet) network engineering, network management, or network technical experience.

Knowledge of network security systems, network software, procedures, and techniques.

Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review).


Responsible for Layer 1, Layer 2, and layer 3 network design, equipment budgeting and network implementation.

Develops network designs, project cost estimates and budgets, network diagrams and drawings, site diagrams and drawings, equipment drawings and circuit layout records.

Manages and maintains the inventories of all NTUA NOC and Data Center controlled electronics and equipment.

Resolves Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 technical troubles.

Provides technical assistance to NOC personnel, Data Center personnel and customers as needed.

Develops network performance measurements, standards and benchmarks; develops plans and programs to continually improve network performance, reliability and protection.

Coordinates network planning and deployment efforts with the NTUA Microwave group, Fiber group, and NOC.

Evaluates and selects network equipment and contracted network services.

Develops Method of Procedures, Operating Procedures, Disaster Recovery Plan, and Change Management policies.

Researches and maintains proficiency in latest technological developments in data communications including (but not limited to) Ethernet, Internet and Fiber Optic infrastructure.

Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art network security, network communication and network technologies, architectures, and products.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.

Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical and narrative reports; performs information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.
